So I am spending a lot of time in this city recently … maybe for two years already. But overall found frustratingly little time to go out with my camera in all that time. Well, “frustratingly” in the sense that there always has been something else to do when I’m over in Tilburg instead of “just” a photowalk. :)
Tilburg is the sixth biggest city of the Netherlands and it is located very close to Belgium, not that far from Antwerpen in fact. The thing is that the Dutch consider Tilburg to be a rather “ugly” city. Well they obviously don’t know Cologne! But as a photographer I tend to find ugly citys rather interesting, because most other Dutch cities are more like a huge agglomeration of prototypical, beautiful, picturesque little brickstone buildings. :) This one also has its harsh edges and it shows them with some pride, and that I like.
The following pictures are just from a maybe one-hour … or was it one and a half hours? … walk, last Friday afternoon. Dull weather as you can see. Not the perfect conditions for stunning photography. But then, I like that weather. It makes you calm down so much. It maybe works well with detail pics as the lighting is soft and does not throw harsh shadows on the subjects.
The usual tech note: All these were taken with my trusty A7 II and Zeiss Contax G 90/2.8 or the Contarex Distagon 35/2. Exept “Arrested” – there I used the Sony FE 28/2.
